The oldest big cat fossils ever found have been unearthed in the Himalayas. The skull fragments have been dated to between 4.1 and 5.95 million years old, and they belong to the newly named species Panthera blytheae. The founders of this extinct cat say it looked similar to the modern-day snow leopard.
